I have an old brooder plate/heater that has 2 warm settings. One just for regular heat and one for baby chicks. I haven't used it for a while and probably won't. Would it be ok to use it for a cat? Underneath a cat bed for a few hours at a time or overnight? (It will be sanitized) I feel like if I ask my vet they will just tell me to buy a heated cat bed but those can be expensive and I like to reuse/recycle if possible. Has anyone ever done this? Thought of this?

As long as it's safe to cover it's worth a shot. Pay close attention to how warm it gets and make sure the cat can't touch it directly. I've seen cats get burned by heaters before, it's not fun.
