Cats, Spider and Snakes!

Lost two hens to the neighbors cat and one died yesterday of a snake or large spider bite at the base of her beak. Ughhhhh--always the hens, never the extra roos!

i am going to feel like that soon because think of a 6-9in. spider long and a pond full of snakes and sometimes wrost

and this is catland for all the starys cats here and cats that people own-gosh i am going to have to put alot of work in my news pet birds of everything popsily but just wish i don't have to save up and can cut conners for the coops/runs

I just sit down there now while they browse in the orchard. Can't do that forever though. I am trying really hard to trap that cat. I can't prevent the snake bits. My hubby accidentally killed a garter snake and I scared the chickens into thinking it was attacking them. At least they pause before they step on it now. LOL

so how old/big were your chickens that you lost to a cat?

They are around 7 weeks old. It is a very large Tom cat.
