What information you have gotten none cause you did not say what you want a cow for or answer anyones questions to give you the best possible fit. The only recommendation was an angus and probably not the best cow for a beginner if you are which we assume if your asking for the best cow to raise.

It would be helpful to give more information so we can give you our opinions on the best choice.

It's like asking what breed of dog is the best; you'll get plenty of opinions, but none of them are relevant until you elaborate as to what you want said dog for.

Corrientes are great... for surviving on brush and roping. Not so great as a milk cow. A Holstein makes a lot of milk, but is far from economical for raising beef. Brahmas make great bucking bulls...

Muscovies, what do you want cattle for? beef or milk?
For beef, there are many breeds! Angus, Hereford, Galloway, Dutch Belted, (don't forget Highlands

)many newer composite breeds. Or Lowline!
I really like the look of Ancient White Park cattle, but their meat doesn't marble like modern breeds. Brahman cattle are cool too if you want something different.
For milk, obviously it depends how much milk you'll need. Holstein (they also come in red!) cows produce a LOT of milk, but I really like the looks of Guernseys, Brown Swiss, Simmentals and Jerseys. For a homestead family cow a Dexter, miniature breed cow, Jersey or a cross might work, as long as she milks easily and well!
I am going to visit a minature cow breeder soon. She has Western Heritage crossbreeds, Mini Texas Longhorn, and Zebu. I can't wait!

Lowline Angus. Google these little guys. They are docile, small, manageable, and are supposed to produce more beef per acre than traditional angus (more efficient). They eat less per head than traditional angus and require less than heavy duty infrastructure - if that makes sense. We just had two calves born in the last couple weeks. The calves are around knee height and 35-40#. I was new to cattle raising when we got some in April 2010. Since then we've had three calves born wiyh absolutely no problems.
