My wife arrived home after dark and saw a skunk skulking about the chicken coop. I had found unknown animal dung nearby a few days earlier so I went out there and baited a live trap with some honey ham leftover from thanksgiving. The next morning, Mr. Skunk was in the trap! I put a tarp over him and moved him away from the chicken coop/run before I let the chickens out. That night, I drove about 5 miles away and let him go near creek. I didn't get sprayed, the skunk survived, and my chickens are free from a predator. What a good day!

Not getting sprayed is major cause to celebrate!

Most skunks are pretty used to people and are unlikely to spray. They have learned to live with us.

I caught a skunk last spring while I was trying to catch a fox (which I eventually caught..yeah!)
I was terrified it would spray inside my car (I don't have a truck to transport it) but it was fine. I did line the back of the car with plastic, and kept the trap covered the whole time as a precaution.

Oddly, the fox really DID stink up the car, far worse than the skunk.
