Wait til you reach under the hen to get the eggs and grab the black snake head with egg in mouth, Talk about running place and doing the peepee dance. It had 2 eggs in bellie and burped the one in it's mouth/throat back into my hand!I will never reach under a hen again without lifting her up to feel for eggs.

Looks like he already ate several others. I just relocated them when I found them. Harmless to have around. Except the egg stealing!

My chickens lay brown and green eggs. I put a white ceramic egg in each nest for snakes.(none yet)

Yes, but this way I don't take my ceramic eggs and try to eat them if they don't look like the real ones.

OMG! What kind of snake IS that? How many eggs did it get?...

Up until the world went bonkers over political correctness that egg eating reptile went under the name of chicken snake. Now people who may have never seen a living snake or stepped off a sidewalk in the last 90 days have renamed it a rat snake. That still hasn't changed this reptiles diet however.

FYI a chicken snake (alias rat snake) can crawl straight up the outside wall of your home and access the inside of your house through the sophist or roof vents. Then you may come home one day like I once did to find a big old shed snake skin on the top of your curtain rod.
