Cayene / Crushed Red Pepper

Oh c'mon

You must have been working on a thesis to have that all ready to go.
So based on your research, what is now considered the optimum daily dosage of Vitamin A and what is the general dosage to induce negative side effects for humans. And of course, how much cayenne is recommended for chickens on a daily basis?

.. always amazed at what one can learn on this forum.

lol no thesis. I have been interested in herbology lately. I'm not going to recommend anything to anyone. But I would suggest gradual introduction, and moderate usage. I drink half cup of water and a teaspoon of cayenne solution every other day. If you're truly interested, I would find an actual herbologist for advice.

try wikipedia for intake and toxicity

What could it hurt. I always thought of it as a spice - makes food taste better. Who doesn't like a little spice in their life? I have smelled the feed - kind of boring - needs spice! If I get something as a benefit (more eggs!) all the better. Otherwise, just an excuse for me to open the door and check out the inside of the coop.

Touche', Eatmore! As the refs inferred, cayenne also works on the brain's pain system, therefore it helps many of us with migraines! I used to "snort" a pinch of the powder until I found a commercial solution in a nasal spray called Headache Buster.

I give crushed cayanne pepper as a treat to my girls. They LOVE it. Whether it does anything productive or not I dunno, but they like it so occasionally I will sprinkle their food with it. Or they like scrambled eggs with cayanne pepper hehe
