My 10 weeks under growth Cayuga girl is very lonely so I bought a little baby Cayuga duckling for her as company so one can also take care of another..but when I took it home my girl was so scared of the baby and she kept running away from it. The little one kept following her. Is that normal? Should I separate them in case one hurt another? I just want them to grow and have fun together.....:th

Beautiful babies!

Yes, the little one is looking towards the bigger duckling as 'momma' and ultimately could get harmed inadvertently as the bigger duckling tries to avoid.

Walmart, Lowes or similar will have a large 49 or 50 gallon tote for 19-20 bucks, pop a piece of plastic down the middle, heat for wee one and they will bond nicely!

Congratulations on the new addition!

Oh and if no option for the tote, then look for anything that is waterproof and could create four walls, like a bathtub...lined with towels.

I agree with both posts. They will be inseparable buddies in a month or so, but right now, Safety First! That baby could get harmed easily & quickly by your other terrified duck! Get the baby under a heat lamp in a space where your other duck can see the baby, but not touch it.

Congratulations on your ducklings, they are adorable! :)
