hatched my first cayugas of the year this weekend, 13 of them. Had 5 blacks, 1 splash, 5 blues, and 2 silvers. The silvers popped up last year for me as a mutation off the blue/splash breeding. These two look to be a very pale version, I wouldnt be surprised if they end up near white with just a little grey cast to them. Pretty excited about that!!

I would love to see pics of your babies! I have Cayugas and finally found their eggs, one was TOTALLY black and buried in mud....I started to wipe it off and the black came off? is this normal? The rest have been lighter but still a gray tint, and the color tends to be blotchy. The other females are G300 and Blue Swedish and one Rouen.

They finally moved into the mansion I have referred to in earlier posts, and they seem happy. The chickens lay in the boxes and the ducks lay all over....and sometimes under a tarp covering a saw (that was used to renovate the mansion) and I have found some stuck in mud around the coop.

The ducks are not very consistent in where they lay....

I will try to post the pic I got of the first batch that included the Black Egg.

i got 2 cayugas in nov. 11 and now there 5 months old i just got them a kittie pool on saturday no mating the male headbobs but hse doesnt.. when he tries to grab her neck she swims a liitle away and he gets close to her and then doesnt headbob???? her rears rather larger than usual?? but no eggs no mate.. though my male cayuga whenever i get close to them he puffs up his head feathers and quack well a raspy quack to mee and wont stop til i go inside when there in there pool wat up? ive only seen my female put her head low to the water once and he was confused but thrn tried to mate when she quit ''submitting herself to him'' but he does it to to her?? wuts up help plz!!!!!!!!!
