I wanted to take a picture of one of my Cayuga eggs before they fade too much. The first few were a very dark black; they are lighter now, but they are still cool-looking. I need to bring a photo to work because no one will believe me when I say my ducks lay black eggs.

All she has ever given me are the lighter, tan/khaki colored eggs. Little brat.

I forgot to mention that I work in a prison, so pictures are all I can bring in. (You never know, someone might hide explosives or illegal drugs in eggs if we were allowed to bring them in!)

That is one reason I went with Cayuga, the egg color. But I think they are really pretty, too. I am looking forward to showing my customers what neat egg combinations I can make with all these eggs.

Thanks for sharing!

I got my Cayugas from Murray McMurray Hatchery. Yeah, I can wash the black off, especially when they are freshly-laid. But mine aren't a nice mint green underneath, they are kind of gray. I like the way they look when they are dark better.
