Hey duck lovers. My 3 Cayuga's just turned 6 months old this month.
Are the greenish eggs from them?
The picture is what I'm collecting about every 4 days from 5 chickens and 3 ducks.
I don't think that's to bad concurring thier age and its winter

I think typically cayuga lay black eggs that get lighter throughout the year. Certainly it is possible the green eggs are from them.
Thanks for the reply. I thought they laided black eggs also . I know they are using the egg boxes because I see thier dropping in then. Just not sure who's laying.
Maybe they haven't started

Mine do lay black eggs when they first start laying. But they lighten up pretty quick.
As the above person stated, the farther they get from the standard the less black the eggs are. Those could be Cayuga eggs you've got.. But mine are more off white than olive.

My cayuga laid a sharpie ink black egg for her first egg every year. It was like we had dipped it in thick black paint. The next egg was a little lighter, and the next a little lighter. After about a month they were a light grey, and stayed that way until she took her fall/winter break.

Her eggs never had a blue-ish or green-ish color to them. Always a flat black or shades of flat grey. Her eggs did always have a little black fleck on the inside. I think it was in the white, perhaps near the yolk.

We only had one cayuga, though, named Clover. She was very precious to us. These details may be more Clover details than cayuga details.
