In May I will have my one year anniversary as a duck slave. I can wait and see, but was dying to ask if My Cayuga females will lose their white patches of feathers when they next molt. I have heard that the older they get the whiter they get, but I didn't hear if it was only seasonally or if they keep them.

I don't know but I have an 8 year old Cayuga that is mostly white now so I do know that the older they get, they do lose their color.

Are your Cayugas laying yet? Mine won't lay! She's making me angry!

Everyon else is laying. Why won't you?!??! Lol

My 8 year old Cayuga is laying. Not every day but at least 3 times a week she lays. She's a sweet, sweet girl. We rescued her in November. She had been locked in a barn for years! Now she has freedom and is the nicest little thing. I call her Sweet Sally Sue. Her old owners called her Louie

No they won't lose there white. Cayuga hens with white are quite valuable. Breed the hens with the white in them to a SOLID black drake for better green sheen. But if you ever have a drake with white on him he is not any good for breeding. Your hens will continue to gain white and in some extreme cases will continue till they are solid white. And they will have the white for life.
