Cayuga or Runner?

scratch'n'peck :

My black runner has a greenish sheen on his wings. If you think the posture looks like a runner then it probably is.

He only has that shine on his wings i think he is a runner. still not sure though:he

Black runners have a green sheen to their adult feathers. Black runners also tend to be less upright than sone of the more established colours (especially white) as the black was obtained by crossing to things like Cayugas. I agree that the head doesn't look like a good runner type but neither does this bird have the type of a Cayuga. Cayugas are hefty, low-rise birds compared to Runners.

Well one of the people i talk to on here says there are 2 types of runners. The show type that stands completly upright. And the more pet type (still stands upright but not as much). I think a may have the more pet type. The place i got them from got them from Metzers hatchery. So i think they are the more pet type. Oh well maybe i will still be able o show them in the county fair. I will get some more pics later for every1 to look at!

It's kind of hard to tell from the pictures. However, at this age, if he's a Cayuga you should see him beginning to take on the "boat shape" and standing much less upright than the runners.

Here's my black runner as a baby:
