I got Midnight as a day old at the feed store and thought he and my other Cayuga were black runners... He recently got white feathers on his chest/stomach area. I have also noticed that his feet are turning an orangey color... He is now HUGE compared to not only the other two ducklings I got him with but all six of my ducks! As a duckling he had two small yellow dots on either side of his beak and a noticeably larger head, and those were the only things that made him different from my other Cayuga. (besides the fact that he is a drake and she is a hen) I am wondering if he could be a Cayuga/ Pekin mix? The only reason I wouldn't want a Pekin is because they are so NOISY, but that shouldn't be a problem because he is a drake

I definitely think he has Cayuga in him because of the iridescent green, purple, and blue sheen his feathers have in sunlight. I know I have seen pics of Pekin/ Cayuga mixes on here recently so if you have them please post here

For a while I thought that he was just going through a molt but now I am starting to wonder because he is getting white feathers all over his body and has a little white dot right above his beak now

Here are some pics to give you an idea:

(if you were wondering I rehomed the two khakis)

Any input is appreciated

I have heard it is pretty common in cayugas to get white feathers with age.

Some of my cayugas are getting some white feathers. They are not mixed with anything. Edited to ask what kind of duck is the gray and white one? I am getting a drake and four cayugas with puffs on their heads ducklings from Ideal next week. I can't wait. I've never raised baby ducks before.

He's only just 3 months old...

I was pretty sure he is a pure Cayuga but it's just weird
