Cayuga started laying have a few ???

Broody chickens tend to puff up and act meaner then they usually are. With Mallards pretty much the same. I've never had broody Cayugas or Pekins

Duck eggs can take longer to hatch than chicken eggs do. Give it another week, before you start to worry about the first egg. I've heard up to 28 days to incubate and hatch. Shouldn't be too much longer before you have a couple little ones waddling around.

Hello again there is another egg in the ducks nest. She covers them (now 17) with straw but hasn't been sitting consistently. I'm curious, if I take an egg out to see if it's fertile which should I do crack it open or candle it. I'm confused my thinking is that any egg would go bad if outside in our 95 degree Texas weather even if just a day how can eggs that are two or more weeks old not rotten?

Well ducks, at least Pekin ducks, incubate 28 days. So it could be incubating a bit even when she isn't sitting. Candle a few if it makes you feel better. With Brodie's I just stick eggs under them and wait for something
