Ok, so I know for obvious reasons why you wouldn't want cedar shavings for your birds, but there are ALOT of cedar coops and tractors on our local craigslist, and I'm wondering with the drying of the lumber used in the construction if it's safer that way? It's actually getting hard to find nice coops/tractors here that AREN'T made of cedar!

Here's one I'm looking into...please let me know what you think!

My chicken tractor (doghouse) is cedar. No issues.

It was the consensus on a different thread was that a cedar building was OK, provided there was good ventilation. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=278995&p=1 Do a search if you want to read more about it.

I believe it's the HIGH SURFACE AREA nature of the shavings that makes them so super-bad.

ETA: What's so "funny" about that coop is that he says it's "Raccoon tested" yet he's using chicken wire on it. Raccoons will bite through chicken wire like it's not even there.....You would need to put up 1/2" hardware cloth to keep the raccoons from breaking in.
