Cedar mulch

Is it safe to landscape with cedar mulch? I absolutely know not to put it in their coop.
I'm wondering if it's safe to put in my yard. They do like to wander around and scratch around on my landscaped area.

Welcome to BYC. Given the fact that they will not be in constant contact with the mulch, I doubt that it constitutes a problem.

Welcome to BYC, Cedar is usually only a problem in unventilated area's with frequent poultry traffic, so if you are just using it in your garden beds you should be fine.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Landscaping with Cedar poses no problems since it outside and airy. I actually use Western Cedar (not to be confused with Eastern Cedar) as litter in my coop and run with no trouble what so ever. Western Cedar is not very aromatic, it barely has any smell at all like the Eastern Cedar.
