I would just use whole paper towels down until you can get a different kind of bedding. Better safe than sorry!

well that sounds like [pasty butt. you got all the poo off, correct? you can either use Vaseline or olive oil on the vent to help with the poop from sticking also i heard adding a little grit to their diets helps with pasty butt. when you give them treats make sure to offer grit as well.

good ) well I'm not 100% sure it was from pasty butt, but I'm guessing. I cleared her from her pasty butt the night before. I'm glad you caught it I never knew about it until i saw it on my two leghorns - it's really noticeable on the light colored chicks ha ha

the reason ceder shavings are not used is because it causes respiratory problems. from the fumes that ceder gives off. id use paper towels til you can get some pine shavings or some other bedding.
