I've hatched & raised celadons, who are now 12wks old. Their eggs were a stunning blue, but have been slowly turning white. Some are almost entirely white now. Could this be nutritional?

They're on Turkey/Gamebird grower, at 22% protein and I supplement with mealworms and/or birdseed mix. We are in Canada and it's getting colder. They are in a spacious flight pen, with all they need.

Appreciate any insights!

Think of them like little printers running out of ink. The longer they’ve been laying for, the less pigment they’ll have left to deposit. Blue layers often have near-white eggs towards the end of the laying season.

TY! They are only 12wks old....

Are they getting enough calcium? An interesting fact about eggs - the brown colour comes from blood, the blue colour comes from bile.

Since the fading is happening to all of your hens, I would guess end of laying season, a nutritional lack, or genetics if they all came from the same source.

I have a total of two celadon layers so am obviously an expert, one has always layed whitish blue eggs like this the other, her daughter), has a similar shade outside but inside they are sky blue, weird, wish I could reverse it, also really hard to candle the daughters eggs.
