Cemented on chicken food

Hello so I have noticed that over time the hanging chicken feeders beging to accumulate hardened chicken food that is nearly impossible to remove. This cemented on food blocks new food from falling down into place. I am wondering if anyone has any tips or trick for removing the cemented on food and/or how to prevent it in the first place. Thank you

if you can't break it up with your fingers, try some pliers (carefully, so you don't damage your feeder). Or soak it in water.

To prevent it happening again, wash your feeder once a week.

Is water getting in to the feed somehow? Maybe it’s traveling down whatever is being used to hang it (chain, wire,rope). That water will cause it to harden. Depending on the design of your feeder, you might be able to put a baffle on the chain, or silicon caulk where the water trickles in.

In cool damp or hot steamy conditions the humidity can reach 100% overnight.
A mash or crumble feed, even a pellet can stick together.
I experience both weather conditions here.
Mornings I move a Phillips screwdriver side to side in the trough to loosen up any sticky feed. .
During the humid weather I let the feeders get nearly empty and wash and thoroughly dry monthly.
My hanging feeders are inside the coops. Outside feeders you may have to clean more often. GC
