Central Florida Ducks

I’m looking to get some ducks, pets. I live in central Florida and was wondering if anyone else in the central Florida region has gotten ducks from a local hatchery versus ordering from out of state. I’m interested in Runners and was thinking about doing a mix of them for fun, also have looked at Cayuga or Swedish too.
I’ve been looking at Metzer but worried about the cross country shipping. I like that they sex them compared to some others I’ve seen that seem to do only straight run since I’d like to just start with females for now. Also seems for shipping 6/7 ducks will be what I need to order to avoid random birds added in but would prefer to start with maybe 4 which I think is to low for anyone to ship so it would be nice to just pick some up from nearby.

You have some options on ordering from Hatcheries, but it will be more expensive for small order and shipping. But you will also have a better chance of getting just females.

Check out your local 4-H club / farms for poultry/duck sales.
Not sure what part of Central FL. you are in. Brevard County has the Fantastic 4-H Farm community at Wickham Park in Melbourne, FL. They having a few sales going on this month. They have a few ducks old enough to voice sex and will except exchanges if some turn out to be unwanted drakes..
Keep checking Craigslist too.

Metzer will ship as few as 2 birds but it's a much larger shipping fee for small orders. I think $70 for shipping on anything under 6 birds.
We've ordered all our ducks from Metzer and they have made it to us here in Georgia happy and healthy.
