Central Texas Newbie

Hi folks, brand new here as well as to raising chickens. Originally from S. Florida, moved to Central Texas (Bastrop, rural suburb of Austin) 6 years ago. Joined the group to learn more about building a coop and tending to egg laying chickens. I’ve been reading groups on Facebook for a couple months, but have been looking for a place to get deeper into subjects as FB doesn’t lend itself to that. I don’t have a coop or chickens yet, but have 6 acres of property and I think I’ve got my site picked out. Thanks for allowing me to join, and I’m looking forward to meeting you.

Build a coop and run larger than you think you'll ever need, make both walk-in style with TONS of ventilation and secure everything with 1/2" hardware cloth.

You need chickens, ducks, turkeys, quail, goats, mini cows, more goats...

Hello, and welcome! Glad that you joined! When you do your coop, I would build my own and stay away from those store bought fabricated one's. Those aren't very sturdily built. Good luck with the flock that you will be starting someday!
