Certifiable Hatch 4 weeks on webcam!

oh Deb I'm jealous, I started this madness in sept 09 and I thought I'd never have babies let alone incubate...and that's how we know the story goes. I want to move to the warmest part of California, buy a piece of land to raise chicks and goats....

Deb where are you located?

Welllll.... I am in the high desert portion of the Mojave Desert in SoCal. Very rural area. Stray horses running down the road are not at all unusual..... I LOVE where I live and I am happy to commute 22 miles each way to work. Town is small, though we have a Subway, grocery store, pizza place and a Burger King. In my community, alot of us rely on the barter system. We trade eggs for fresh prduce from one guy, another guy comes for the chicken poop for his farm and brings us corn - we go to the community corner on the highway and see what we can get. Sunday was a bunch of empty cartons for ONE dozen eggs!!!!!

Hi Cheryl,
I just set another batch of eggs today as well. You'll be three days ahead of me. I set 34 eggs from my Barnevelders. Some of the eggs are quite old (2+weeks), but some are very fresh from today. Since I just lost my roo, I'm going all out to get as many pullets and potential replacement breeder cockerels as I can.

I just finished hatching this morning 13 blue Barnevelder crosses and 5 pure Barnevelders. I quickly cleaned the bator, plugged it back in and set the 34 more Barnevelders! I'm glad my DH is going to be busy fighting fires soon. He's not going to be happy with all the chicks I'm growing out.

So much for only having just a couple of chickens like I originally planned

I deal with pretty much a whole family that thinks I'm nuts.

OK I guess I am, but I feel like the chickens are somewhat of an outlet. They're fun, cute, hatch in 21 days(sometimes) and do some of the craziest things that can make you laugh when nothing else can.

Just finished a hatch with only 14 eggs and got 50% hatch. I have 2 Birchen Marans and 4 BCMs and 1 Blue Ameruacana. Shipped eggs from Sebrightmom. Some were rocking but never hatched. I had to help the last of the 7 who made it out, but the others did pip and wasn't sure if I should try to help. Now I wish I had. At this point they didn't make it anyway. These little guys sure are cute though!

Right now I have 12 Olive EEs and 12 WCB and blue Polish from isadream, so more shipped. And...........................12 Buff Laced Polish coming from JewellFarm ....AND.........7 BCMs from Fluffy Butt Farm.

Um......DH doesn't know about the ones in the mail.

Ha Ha Ha, you sound like me DH never knew exactly how many I have, he's even looked at the bator and never questioned it. Gotta love that!

tls_ranch- Your babies are so cute, good luck on your new batch and sorry to hear about your Rooster.

I candled day 4 and removed 4 clear eggs, I needed to make room, I have 3 eggs stacked in the bator now. Saw lots of veining and a few other questionable ones, I will candle again at day 10.

Is it just me or does this incubation seem to be going by slow!!!!

Yes it is the absolute test of patience, which of course I have none. Thank goodness I have adults and babies to occupy my time so I'm not hovering (is that why they call it a hovabator?)...over the bators?
