Chain link as awinter run

I am having my son build me a coop on a cart for the summer, as I will be using the paddock system. He thought achain link dogrun with top would be good for winter. Pull the coop in and there you go.would the birds be safe? is chain link small enough to keepout skunks and raccoons? Suggestions?

Chain link will keep out a skunk or raccoon but they can reach in with paws. I would use woven wire doubled with chicken wire (or hardware cloth). Much easier to work with than chain link.

I have a dog kennel pen for my call ducks. They have a converted playhouse and do get locked up each night.
A netting is over the top of pen for protection of hawks.
Many a morning I have found evidence of critters that had gotten in their pen overnight and overturned their feeder and even drank and left paw prints around their in ground pond. Ducks would have been eaten if not locked up tight.
