Chain link for roof?

Would chain link be a good enough temporary roof for a run? I know chain link is not good enough for the sides of the run because of the ground predators, but for roof I can't imagine a hawk of owl getting through. We have an abundance of chain link and was hoping to cut down costs for the roof, but we want our chickens safe so I thought I'd ask here.

Lots of people use chain link for run fencing with added wire poultry cloth or hardware cloth around the sides and a apron of hardware cloth around the bottom.
