New England.. the cold part.
I found an egg in our duck pen a few weeks ago... it wasn't waxy at all, certainly chalky, a bit rough... so i assumed a chicken snuck in and laid it... now, one of our ducks has been injured, and she is in isolation. locked in a dog crate, no way anything can get in or out... she's a khaki campbell, and was born last may. This morning, there is a chalky, sandy, white egg in there with her... does this mean that something ELSE is wrong with her?

I get one like that every now and then. Ive never worried about it cause of not getting many of them. Sorry Im not much help.

If you are getting them all the time then they need some calcium like Oyster shell. Do you feed layer pellets to her. I get 1 every blue moon and I feed layer and oystershell so I dont worry about it. Just a glytch in the system
