Challenge: Hatching The Impossible!!!!!

Hi there! :frow Long time lurker here...

Can I ask a silly question? I've never done a hatch, so I'm totally clueless... I read all this stuff about lock down and not touching... how do you Candle while doing a lockdown? Am I misunderstanding the concept? 😳 I'm so confused now... you've got awesome pics showing the goings on in that egg... is it because your hatch was staggered and Jelly Bean wasn't in lock down stage? Just trying to keep track.. next birthday, I'm demanding an incubator, so I'm just trying to get a clue!
😅

(And GO JELLY BEAN!! You can do it!!)

It is not good to candle eggs during lockdown. But if you have a special eggs like, misshapen, doulble yolker, and tiny. They can have a highter fatality. Even certain chicken breeds need a good eye during lockdown. But you need to be careful.

Opening the incubator during lockdown won't hurt the chicks within the eggs. For any harm to be done, the humidity will have to be really low, for 6-12 hours. This will cause shrink wrapping.

I only touch the eggs to monitor their progress which is only about 30 seconds maybe less, each out of the incubator for candling.
Yes the hatch is a little staggered because a couple eggs were placed a couple days later then the rest.
