Have you ever taken dog agility training classes and/or competed in dog agility?

The top pole of the jump may be the dog's eventual competition height, but it is much too high for a typical beginner dog. 4 inches off the ground is sufficient for a beginner dog his size. Also, put him on leash. Then you step over the bar with him in a "Sit"/"Stay." (Have someone hold his collar if he doesn't know those commands.) His watching you step over the hurdle will help give him visual understanding, as will the leash connecting him, the jump, and you on the other side. Have a tasty treat ready to reward him for his sucess. Then command him to "Jump! If he still balks at the very low pole, it's still too high for him to gain confidence. Lower it some more until he gains confidence and understanding.

Now I will amend my initial post to challenge you to teach your dog in the photo And a chicken to jump. You can do it! :D
Thank you so much! I’d love to take an agility class with the dogs. (Although they’re 11 right now and starting to ‘slow down’)

So, remaining are:

1. Bake a strawberry cake
2. Teach chicken and dog to jump over hurdle
3. Toy for the chickens
4. Photo of poultry enjoying water

I’ll try my best to teach Oliver (dog in first post) how to jump, although he has some back issues so we’ll see.

1. Bake a strawberry cake
I’ll do this one as soon as possible. I just need to buy/pick some strawberries first!

I’ll probably do a chocolate and strawberry cake (since I LOVE chocolate!)
2. Teach chicken and dog to jump over hurdle
Going to work on the dog today, if I have the time, and the chicken possibly tomorrow.
Not exactly sure how I’m going to teach a chicken… I have a harness, but they don’t like it much. Maybe mealworms?
3. Toy for the chickens
Also going to work on this one soon. Need to figure out what a fun toy is that I could make.
4. Photo of poultry enjoying water
I’m thinking I could get at least one photo this evening, or tomorrow, since I’m taking care of some animals (15 horses, 2 ponies, 4 geese, 12 ducks, and who knows how many chickens) and one of the geese loves water.
I’d do it of my own chickens but they hate water.

If your little dog has a back issue, I will say don't be concerned about teaching him to jump.

As far as teaching a chicken, as you surely know, chickens are even more food-motivated than dogs. In the video below, the young trainer/handler is using food to encourage and motivate her chicken. Same as with teaching dogs, the jump should be very low until your chicken understands what you want her to do.

Thanks!
I'll keep working on the different challenges too!

I have 6 challenges to do. I’ll try and work on at least a few today. Sorry That I haven’t done any recently.
