Hi, I have a Salmon Favorelle rooster and 6 hens. My rooster is almost a year old. They have all been hand raised by me since day old chicks. He has just started attacking people. Last week when my husband went out to give them a snack he jumped up and pecked my husband in the butt. Yesterday when I went out to give them scratch he flew up and pecked my thigh. He did this twice and again this morning when I went to let them out of the run. Why is he doing this and what can I do to correct his behavior? I don’t want to have to put him down but I can’t have him attacking people either. Thanks.

In my experience, once they start they don't stop. He's not to be trusted anymore.

It's a bummer, I know. I have a roo who I probably have to kill this summer. He's been given a grace period because he's nice to hens and good at watching for hawks. But I don't turn my back on him, and he's no longer allowed on the same side of the fence as my toddler.
