Changing how I live.

Hi everyone.
I’ve come to this site many times and found answers to a lot of my questions, so I figured I would join the group.

I moved to Alabama a few years ago and got some land and finally decided to make something of it this past spring. I cleared half an acre of kudzu and overgrowth and built a coop. I started off with 10 Rhode Island Reds, That are about 19 weeks old, but unfortunately raccoons got to two of them a few weeks back. And I also did a batch of 15 Cornish Cross, but only have one left in the freezer. And now I have 26 more chicks in the brooder that are three weeks old.

Eventually I would like to hatch and raise enough to keep a steady supply of meat and eggs for my family and a few friends. Im looking forward to living at least a slightly healthier lifestyle and hopefully teach my kids some life lessons in the process.
Welcome, Welcome, Welcome. I'm waving to you from Sunny L.A. (Lower Alabama). Love this state, and like you I bought land, and started clearing last year. It was messy. Now I have chickens in the big run, Two hoop coops with hen bins under construction, 11 in the brooder and 6 in the incubator. I hope in spite of losing a few to racoons, you keep up the good work and enjoy the yard birds.
