Changing local laws about keeping backyard chickens

I live in Bethel CT, and because I am on less than one acre I am not allowed to keep chickens. I would love some advice on how to change the local ordinances and perhaps find others living in my town who would like to get together to make this happen.

First you should contact your city council about any way that you could change the ordinance. I would suggest an online petition, or if you are up to it, door to door petitioning(having signatures of people that are actually in your community may be more effective). Ask your council or HOA when they will have a meeting next, and go to the meeting with a presentation, and(hopefully) your completed petition.
