I have 2 polish ladies that run from the my other 3 hens. They have their own little house next to the main hen house. I let them all out like normal this morning, as usual. It is now POURING rain. I looked out there from my back door and I can tell the polish are not in their house. Should I go looking in the downpour? There are so many places they could be hiding, I don't even know

if I can find them. Should I trust my chickens to be sensible and find somewhere to stay dry or do you think they are out there waiting for a one woman rescue party?

Rain doesn't bother them as much as it bothers us. Mine frolic in it. And if they don't feel like frolicking, they find somewhere dry to sit.

Chickens are weird.

Anyway, if you DO choose to go out after them, call, and bring treats, don't try to search them out. It'll be much easier on all of you.

My chickens won't come out from under their cover if it's raining. Spoiled city chickens.

I know others will go out in the rain and it won't hurt them. If they come back and are soaking wet, you may want to put them under a heat lamp or bust out the hair dryer to make sure they are dry before putting them to bed.

The rain let up and and I opened my back door and they were hanging out with my dog. Polish chickens look so miserable when they get wet, I always just assumed they hated the rain!

They've dried off a bit now, but their heads still look silly... I guess my husband is right and I shouldn't always assume that everyone is going to die if I don't baby them... the cats, dog, and himself included...

Thanks everyone for keeping me out of the rain!
