i have a bell thats attached to our garage door.. i could put that on their coop,,, mm or an old coffee can and maybe like scratch or even pebbles (for the noise). mmmm not sure
just logged in-was going to ask the same question-I let my girls out for the 1st time today-most were fine, but 4 went in different directions. I finally got them all in but 1-oh...I have 19-the last one out ran me through the woods for about 30-45 min.! This is my first year for chickens and now I,m afraid to let them out again! I'm surrounded by alot of woods-don't know what i'd do if I lost one of my girls!!
soooo,
after much much thought, tonight i went in the back of the house where the chickens went thru the woods and finished putting up the fence!!
ha! for them.....we have a cement wall that leads back into the woods, its about 3 feet high , so thats what the girls hopped up on and searched about. now i have fenced the top of the cement wall so they cant go up there now. it frightened me,,,, i thought they werent gonna come back to me.
so after all this, i went to let the chickens outside and they were all up on their roosts, well
.... i deceided to pull them down and shoo them outside!
your gonna listen to me girlies! i said, then i tried to lead them to the back so they can check out their wall!
... which of course they didnt want to go back their and ran back to their run/home
... so they won today! however i cant wait to see their faces when they relize they cant get over it!
