It's flavor is similar to that of chicken, & it's also sweet. Squirrel is also similar, but can be tougher then rabbit.

IF they are a major pest, you can screw two large rat traps to the trunk of a tree, so that the bait faces both up and down. Bait it with peanut butter with a shelled walnut smooshed into it.

If it is ground squirrels, you can do ground cage traps.

It was where I lived before there were lots of hazelnut trees and the squirrels would always eat them before they were ready, but I don't live there anymore so it's no longer a problem.
