Hey Silver! Girl, so happy for your eggs.

I just shuddered when I first saw that carton. Glad to see you getting those veins. Gooooo chickies!! Just got off the phone with my 9 year old niece (1 1/2 hours, lives in MS) who loves to stay with us. DH and I get her and another 10 yo old niece, next weekend. Nooo sleep for me, heehee We love 'em!

Henman, what she said! Just be ready, sometimes their will be a little agression, but usually resolves quickly. May have to try a few times, that hen pecking ritual is tough on me. . . Goood luck and stick around.

so what is everyone going to get into this afternoon ... i have the weekend summary for the other thread .. and supper to take care of ... brooders could use another clean already but probably wont get to those until tommorow...

the 5 bantams that hatched still seem so tiny and the brahma that made it after the light disaster has moved itself in with the other silkie silkie cross bantams and they protect it like they hatched it out themselves lol

when i do clean out i will try to get pictures of everyone again .. tuxedo the nn has gotten so big and you can tell he is a roo !!!! i am thinking chickadee might actually be a light braha or brahma cross as well but still not sure if its a roo or hen ... as there is no fighting in the brooder im thinking might be a hen ...

im working on a roast for supper with carrots and taters .. maybe some rice and biscuits to but not sure yet lol

still working on my first cup of coffee with my late sleeping self lol

ill be back to check in later !!! hope everyone is having a good sunday !!

Goodness Silver, dinner sounds soooo good. If I lived closer I would beg for that dinner invite, yum!
Me, shopping at the big box store for monthly home/food supplies, yuk. And, working with our 3 week old chicks (14 of them) that 2 hens hatched. Dealing with the cocci situation.

my first of course. I may let hens sit on eggs, again, but I don't know. . .if I do, the day they are up and moving, they are coming to the inside brooder. This is rough to deal with, but thankfully they are still alive. I discovered it Friday am, had moved them in due to the weather and too crowded with the hen mama's... Been treating since. Hopefully they will make it through the next 4 or 5 days. Good so far!
The 6 week olds that I hatched via 'bator are doing great!! Thankfully (12 of them). Had them on med feed, but didn't put them out until 4 weeks, had some immunity. Will continue the med feed of course.

The 3 week olds were on the medicated feed for 2 weeks, but with the damp/warm/cold/warm/wet and on and on, their immune systems were not yet ready for the cocci exposure. Next week, cleaning all pens, burning bedding, then follow up with oxine once it gets here Fed Ex. Stronger than bleach, safe for chicks/hens/ treats killls cocci and bunch more stuff. Then got to do the same with all the other coops and surrounding areas.

Double yuk, just hope the weather settles down.
Still keeping our fingers crossed for our garden.

Talk to you all soon!
