Oh boy...

I just did my final cull for my August hatch this Summer.

And after everyone who decided to crow finally found his voice (and thus had to go) - Out of 15 chicks...

I had 11 roosters!! Ugghhh!

So disappointing... sheesh.

out of a batch of nine i think i only got one roo!

I wasn't attached to them emotionally.
But there was one or two that were really beautiful that I didn't want to give up-- ugghh
I am saying *now* that I don't want to go through all of that again... but knowing me, once Spring rolls around I'll fill up the bator again. *sigh*

I wonder why I got SO many roos?? Maybe I'll have better luck next time. HA!

I still have over 20 chickies... MANY of whom are roos-- I just have to wait for them to crow, and then I'll know for sure.

So for now I've got:
1 Buff Orp - Hen
2 Fancy Silver Pencil Plymouth Rocks - Pullets. Waiting for my first eggs from these lovely ladies hopefully by Christmas.

1 Welsummer/Ameraucana cross - pullet.
1 Andalusian/RIR cross - pullet.
1 Ameraucana cross - pullet.
1 RIR cross - pullet.
and 4 buff orp babies 2 roos / 2 pullets.

And about 10 more that are probably ALL roos.... Oh Boy!

Out of all my 22 chickens-- I only have one that lays - Ha!

I thought I was the Crazy chicken lady but I'll probably end up with only 9 chickens. A very 'normal' number in my mind.
