Cheap chicken treat

I found a REALLY cheap treat for your chickens that they will love!
You can find it in the "Wild Bird" Section of Tractor Supply Co.
They're called Royal Wing Suet Cakes, and they cost $.99 USD!
They have a variety of "Flavors" you can choose from! Including...
"Hi-Energy"
"Berry Flavored"
"Sunflowers"
"Woodpecker"
"Bird Lovers"
"Raisin"
and many more!

You need a treat cage to use them, however, the cages are also very cheap and easy to hang up!

I watch out for the added stuff in those. I make my own so I know what's in them. I don't want my chickens eating something that's extremely high fat. That's just me though...

Boiled rice. Not nutritious, so don't give too much. But they love it like it were mealworms.

I ferment my girls feed (Flock Raiser) so their "treat" is FR in the dry form at close up. Learned how much "treating" messes their diet nutrition.

My chickens get layer meal and they like to eat the pieces in it, but don't like to eat the fine meal. I mix the left over with yoghurt, juice and apple vinager to make it a healthy treat.

I imagine your chickens may go crazy over these, but use sparingly and with caution! The fat is a huge attraction to chickens (much like humans) and too much creates obesity and fatty liver disease (much like humans). Their feed contains the right amount of fat (in proportion to all the other nutrients). You can stuff leftover raw greens (or other vegetable treats mentioned above) into that cage for a fun activity.

You can Google homemade suet cakes for chickens. I did give mine the store bought ones because I came across a brand new box. Same as above, sorry wild birds no suet cakes for you!

I use these suets as a treat every now and then, they don't get them 24/7. I feed them corn and other vegetables as treats too, They get the suets pretty much every 2/3 weeks.
