Here's the style coop I've been using for 4-6 birds (LARGE run, warm weather... they only eat, sleep, and nest in the coop in south MS)
4x4 ft exterior siding, painted with oil-based barn paint.
2x2" for all the framework
3/8" pressure treated plywood for the floor with 2x2" pressure treated joists
cheap OSB for the roof decking
tin for the roof.
cinder blocks for the footings
2 external nesting boxes to maximize space in the coop.
For all materials, it'll cost around $300 if you build 2 coops. If you just build one, it'll cost around $225, and you'll have a lot of leftover scraps, paint, screws, etc....
Even though it's fairly cheap and small, I think it still looks cute in the backyard.

Found someone on garbage day throwing out an old kiddie playhouse. I commandeered it, added a touch of hardware cloth, and it's now one of my small chicken tractors with the juvies
