Cheap Ideas for Nest Boxes and Roosts?

What or should I ask why, do you have a cover on the top of the nests? So the nests should be 8x8. How far should the roosts be from each other? Does the angle matter?

Usually people cover the top of the nests to keep the chickens from roosting on them and getting them all dirty with poo.

Yeap that is why mine has the metal roof like piece, so they only use it as a nest box and not try to sleep on top of it. Actually my

83 year old "barn boy" designed that piece and it works pretty well (even if it is slightly redneck looking.)

milk crates from the back of grocery stores at night? There's a name for that...... no, not what you were thinking.... It's "Midnight Milk Crates." As for they're illegal to have, it says so on the side... Shhhhh don't tell anyone this, but I remove the tags from my pillows and mattresses too.
