Cheap & Large Breeding Coop!

For "cheap" I scoured CL for free pallets, even got a couple of pallet crates! Also, Home Depot has what they call a "Cull bin" in the bacl of the lumber dept! The cuts that are sprayed with green paint are $0.51! I have spent (not including new tool purchases) just under $160 for my coop, and that includes $60 for the hardware cloth and another $12 or so for paint! Oh, and $20 for screws! If I add in the tools....that'd be another $75 or so, but I had no hammer, pry bar, level, drill, etc...

Sticker shock is easier to absorb when you go in to HD and come out having spent under $5 per trip...

The pallet crates were an awesome find...I would try calling Costco as well (the crates came from there originally, but I got them at a local "discount" store). The framing is nearly complete on them, all I have to do is flip them over onto another pallet.

You could do a 4 foot tall 8x12 coop for under $300.

5 sheets t1-11 - $140 (you could do plain plywood and cut that cost in half)

7 panels of aluminum roofing - $84

and then scrounge around for your framing materials or get the cheapest 2x4's from a home improvement store (usually pine). Then all you need is hardware and some hardware cloth and you're set. You can fit PLENTY of chickens in there
