Check out my new 5 gallon home made bucket feeder! update !!!!!!!!!!

I used L brackets to attach my bucket to the base. I could put it up as high as I wanted. I screwed the L bracket right to the bottom thru the pan and drilled holes in the bucket and used bolts and nuts on that end of the L bracket. MIne has held up well even filled with 25 pounds of feed. The hooks you see came on the pan but they weren't strong enough so I added the L brackets. I love L brackets. I could build a house without nails if I had L brackets and screws!

i switched back to the original 12pound 12inch hanging feeders no more waste . until i find a better way to use the homeade feeders. i had about 20 pounds left from the 50 pound bag of mash i bought yesterday. they ate and wasted the other 30 pounds i have 21 standard hens and 1 roo. so so much for my experiment. oh well. live and learn.

Awesome!

I fear however that my chickens are far too discriminate to eat from an ACE hardware bucket. I think I would at LEAST have to get them a lowes bucket.

Walmart has some and fleet farm has deeper ones like the OP used for the 5 gallon bucket.
I use a 2 gallon setup just like that, if I hang it high enough they can't waste any but can still get their beaks in there to eat.
