!!!Check Out My New Intro Page!!! : ) - Please leave feedbacks on it.

Yea, I'd have thought that'd be about a $100 there. $20 is for sure a bargain. I could for sure use his contact info. I need a website BAD!

Guess what...

Here is the story:

He is from Texas and he contacted me out of nowhere actually and thought I'd give it a try...he did it up to that point and wants a deposit...is that logical?

Thats the thing...he is 4 states away from me so that why I am still considering. Haha. I don't want to put my money to waste in case...

???

Right?

I certainly try my best...hehe

Of course...when you have too much to wager...you can't perfect everything but as long everything is above average for me, I am happy : )

It looks like great work, so I wouldn't consider it to waste. The one thing is I would want it all on MY server though b/c w/it all being on his server he could easily erase it all and you have no control. Ugh, I don't want to get into all that...Legal BS. I think it's for sure worth the $20.

I don't find the intro too bad, but not great either, in my sometimes not so humble opinion. I'm a web designer by career so I'll give a few suggestions. There's two levels of movement in the opening flash animation, the background and the text. I find the background is moving too fast and extremely distracting. My second thoughts are that the text disappears into parts of the white images that are used in the background and the white divider lines. I find I'm so totally distracted by the constant movement of the background that I don't read the text at all.

Next question, do you have the rights to use the music without being caught in copyright infringement? That would be something important to look into as well.

It looks like your using your own background picture, so that's great!

I'd get the designer to slow down the animation by about half and see what it looks like, and maybe leave the quote for a few seconds more at the end in case people are so busy looking at the background that they don't read it until the end.

The cost, $20 is a steal! and way undercutting what most designers would charge.

Are you allowed to give out his contact information?? Something like that could surely give my website a little 'spice'

I have been trying to get a hold of him for the past couple of days...no luck.

I will keep trying but hey...it might be a scam...who knows? I will keep everyone updated : )

Welllll.....it's not that hard to copy the file and save to your own server. Mind you, you do not have the working files, so you can not make changes to the flash intro, but you can make a copy of it as it stands right now.

Read and learn

1) Open the page with the intro (http://www.marineauditors.org/tommy.htm).
2) Go to "View" -> "Page Source"
3) Look for the file name of the flash player. In this case this is what I was looking for: "tommyproject.swf"
4) Paste this file name on to the end of the hosts URL. Now you are directly accessing the file, instead of accessing it from a .html page. The full URL is: http://www.marineauditors.org/tommyproject.swf
5)
Go to "File" -> "Save page as"
6) Save to your hard drive.

You now have a copy of the flash file and can embed it into your own web pages. Again, you can not edit it, but you now have a copy of it

Mind you, as a side note, I would not do this without paying the designer as you are still using their work and it would be stealing to do so without payment.
