Wow, based on some of these prices, my coop and run must be worth about as much as a brand new economy car! Seriously, if they could get these prices I'd quit my day job and go into the coop building business!

WHat I don't understand is why the heck are these little a frame tractors sooooooo darn expensive??? One big wind would sent that sucker sailing across the neighborhood over here.

What's interesting about that one is that it's solid steel...that's gonna be a pretty heavy tractor to move around daily....it's more like a chicken prison...lol

I know right!!!!!! What the world! I mean I like the steel instead of wood, but its rusted and I'd worry about how the rust would affect chickens (possibly poison or kill them if they ingested it) it is anything but attractive IMO as it reminds me of scrap JUNK! It LOOKS secure, but that doesnt mean it is. the ends are wood, and look a bit worse for wear so I would worry about something digging right through the worn out rotten wood! WOW some people amaze me

I agree!!!!!!! I mean its solid steel, so it would weight 2-4 times as much as a wood A frame the same size...I couldn't imagine moving something like that by myself and I'm pretty strong! I agree it looks like a prison. besides the wire floor is OFF the ground it looks like, so why would you move it around anyway? they can't graze....

I don't think it is nearly as heavy as you imagine. The framing is steel, but the walls are welded wire. I have a coop that is steel framed with aviary mesh sides (like chicken wire, but with teeny, tiny openings) I don't move mine around much, but could (and have) if needed. Oh, and it has a skylight roof, which adds a LOT of weight.

I do agree that it is pretty expensive at $750, but metal is pretty expensive. It looks very secure.

If you look, it has short vertical walls; it's not raised off the ground:

Yes, rust could be an issue with the structural integrity; but it will not be a significant issue to the chickens' health. It is merely iron. Pressure treated lumber or deteriorating zinc (galvinized metal) would be of more concern.
