I've been lurking on the site for many months as we've jumped into the chicken experience! I just wanted to take a moment to thank you all for the time you spend posting questions and answers as well as the info in the learning center. We got into chickens because my wife is big into healthy food for the family and the kids are always up for another pet around the house. We're in the middle of a neighborhood so it's still an odd scene to see chickens running around the backyard...
Anyway, you folks have helped us through building a coop, ordering chicks, making a brooder, recovery from a fox attack (Foxy the attack survivor now lives on our back porch as she has a hard time getting around), rehab of a mysterious unable to walk affliction, all the way through dealing with a surprise rooster in our pullet order and now eggs in the incubator!
So it's been quite an adventure so far and it's only been 6 months! But we're way more into chickens now then I ever thought we'd be.
Again, thank you all!
Here are the girls (and boy
). We started with 10, lost a BR (our most affectionate hen which was sad) to a fox, and Foxy only occasionally hangs with the group when she can keep up. Blondie (our surprise rooster) in on the back of the bench facing the wrong way...
