Hello,
I had chickens as a child, yet can’t really call it ‘chicken raising’ experience. I got 7 Rhode Island Red chicks during this pandemic since I am working from home, and 3 of the 7 are now laying eggs. I am so attached that I couldn’t eat their first eggs…I know, I know. The whole experience has been so enjoyable and endearing, I wish I had gotten them years ago. My 6 year-old dog, April, has also enjoyed having them around. My children nicknamed the coop as the "Cluster Cluck" so I am the Cluster Cluck Mom.

I came across your page while looking for information on chickens and after reviewing some of your posts, decided to join.

Welcome to BYC! I love your nickname, that's so fun! I'm glad you're enjoying your chickens. They're special pets. Feel free to ask any questions you may have, and give advice! We're happy you joined us! :D

I totally get not wanting to eat the first eggs. I have a collection of blown-out egg shells that includes some really odd eggs and some of my firsts, including the first green one from an Easter egger and the first American Buff goose egg. And, yes, I take photos, too.

Glad you, the kids and April are having such a good time with your girls. Welcome to BYC!
