It's been a while since I've visited BYC. Summer has been busy. We cleaned out my parents home and put it on the market. Such a big job. We had an offer within a couple days, so now we sit and wait for things to hopefully fall into place.
I've had my grandson a little more than usual because of summer vacation. I have a good case of tennis elbow, which makes grandparenting a bit of a challenge, but I love having him. He starts school, soon. He will be in special kindergarten.
The garden is winding down. I've had a mixed-bag of results, but came away with ideas for improvements, next year.
I had to say "goodbye" to my senior dog, Elliott. He was ready to go, but I can't say I was ready to lose him. It's so hard. I know many of you understand. He was such a good boy.
My 4 spring pullets are all laying and are finally integrated with the flock - during the daytime. They still choose to go to the small coop at night. I hope to move them into the main coop before the snow flies. I'm still waiting for the builder who agreed to put a new roof on my set-up, to come and do that. I have to say - these girls are so sweet! I don't believe I'll ever go with RIRs again. I love my Red's, but so many of them have been bullies during this process.
Tomorrow, I will start cleaning and prepping my glass studio for some work. I haven't used it all summer, because it was too hot. I enjoy Glassworks in the winter. It helps pass the time. My electric bill has gone sky high, though - so, I'll have to run the kilns with that in mind.
I'll try to do better about checking in. I hope you've all had a good summer. It always goes too fast, doesn't it?
