How can I tell if my eggs are losing enough weight besides weighing? Also, how can I help them lose weight if needed? I have not placed them in the incubator yet but the humidity is at about 77% and the temp is 101 I think I need to lower humidity.

Hi Lauryn,

I don't weigh eggs, although many people do. I check air cells according to this chart:

If the cells look small, I lower the humidity. If they are getting too big, I raise it.

You are correct that 77% is too high for days 1-18. I like mine around 35% and adjust as needed. Take all the water out of your incubator and see how it does dry. You can always add some back in with a sponge or two.

Good luck with your hatch!

PS: Have you calibrated your hygrometer so you know that it's accurate?
