My chicken, Sharmila, seems to have trouble seeing as well as the other hens in my flock. We think she's an ameraucana or easter egger and she has tufts right below her eyes. Sharmila gets lost a lot and has to yell for the other chickens to come back when she can't find them. She doesn't seem to be able to see downwards or to the sides, and i was wondering if maybe it was her cheek tufts. Any advice? Should I try and trim them down? They've gotten bigger since this picture was taken.

It's always a possibility though I don't think so. I have an ameraucana just like Sharmila with rather large tufts and she's never had any problems with eyesight.

My Easter eggers never have a problem.

You can try trimming them if it makes you feel better, but I don't think they're impairing her vision. She can easily turn her head a little to see around them.
