Chernobyl the Hen

This is our new momma chicken Chernobyl. She is named this because we have no idea what kind of chicken she is. We got her for free when we picked up our Silkie chicks because someone didn't want her. She makes very interesting noises but is also a surprisingly great mommy bird! If anyone has knowledge of what kind of bird she may be a mix of or is in general please let me know!

Most likely a barnyard Silkie mix, but could be a Mystic Onyx. That is a hatchery hybrid raised to have dark skin, and I believe Silkie is part of the mix that makes that variety.

She's really pretty with the sun shining on her like that.
