Cherries! cherries! cherries!

Here's a pic of how full our cherry tree is now. There to small for me to fool with but just right for chickens. Ya'll were right, they luv'em. Unfortunately, so do the birds, and they keep getting drunk and flying into the windows.

I might be exagerating but when berries ( and maybe cherries?) get overripe, they start to ferment. The birds gorge on them and become intoxicated. Cedar waxwings are especially bad for this. Teach your chicks: "Hens don't let hens drink and fly!" Hee, hee!

I have no idea what kind they are. The tree was there when we moved in.

I gave my 3 week old chicks small pieces of cherry tonight and they were in heaven! Some juice splashed on the sides of the watermelon box they are in and they pecked at it until it was gone
