I Would Like To Know If You Can Give Cherries With The Seeds To The Chickens ??? I'm New At This.. First Time Chicken Grower.
Thanks
Traci... :p

I spoil my chickens. I remove the pits. Not that they get cherries that often, given their high price.

They love whole cherrys! I just toss them in pits and all. They eat around the pit, and leave it on the ground.

There's another such list that says Avocado pits are poisonous to chickens. The chicken that could swallow an Avocado pit would scare me.

I throw the mushy/bad ones out to the chickens when I'm done. Whole, pits and all...they'll leave the pits on the ground and just eat the fruit.

Mine eat the cherry trees drop by the pile in season. They get cherry juice all over themselves and look like----well-----that they are packing for freezer camp. Wild cherrrys and a major part of there free-range in season.

I just give them the whole cherry and they eat around the pit with no problem. It never occured to me that cherry pits might be poisonous or a chocking hazard, but they might be. If your worried they might swallow it or have a hard time eating it with the pit, you can just cut it in half and remove the pit or pop it out with a cherry pitter. Sometimes I take the pit out and fill the spot where it was supposed to be with a treat, they love it!

Hope this helps!

I have four cherry trees, two sour and two sweet, so if pits are a problem I am in trouble!

Mine used to love them but I think they are slightly burned out on them now.

I guess it's good it's almost time for apricots!
